“Doctor Slump” Korean Drama First Impression Review: A Healing Series That Doesn’t Rushes You To Heal (via Netflix)

Two top students—who were rivals in the past—met again during their lowest point in their lives. Yeo Jeong Woo (Park Hyung Sik) and Nam Ha Neul (Park Shin Hye) are doctors who lost their jobs due to painful circumstances. As they become each other’s support pillar, what happens when their relationship grow in a romantic way?

Here are 7 reasons to watch “Doctor Slump” on Netflix.

1.) It’s a ✨️ healing ✨️ drama that doesn’t rush you to heal.
“Doctor Slump” understands that mental illness is not something you can fix overnight. It doesn’t pressure someone to heal, and simply show that sometimes it’s okay to feel down and work on your self at your own pace.

2.) “The Heirs” co-stars reunion.
Park Hyung Sik and Park Shin Hye already starred together in “The Heirs. Plus, the two are also pretty good at creating rapport with their co-stars. Hence, their past interactions and ability to build chemistry helped in showcasing Jeong Woo and Ha Neul’s adorable from enemies-to-friends-to-lovers relationship.

3.) The Park Hyung Sik nostalgia.
Watching Hyung Sik would remind you of his past characters: from his comedic timing in “The Heirs” and “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” to his iconic scenes in “Happiness.” But, most of all, his real personality simply shines in the series. As he said during his media roundtable interview with the Philippine press, he can relate well with his character, Yeo Jeong Woo.

4.) Park Shin Hye’s acting never gets old.
The actress is simply good at romcom and melancholic scenes. When Ha Neul cries, the audience cries with her.

5.) The fully supportive supporting cast.
The people around Ha Neul may have starred in problematic roles in some of their past works, but most of them are simply lovable in this drama. (There are, however, characters that will still make your blood boil.)

6.) An upcoming second lead couple.
The main cast’s friends, Bin Dae Young (Yoon Park) and Lee Hong Ran (Gong Seong Ha), will have a love line that viewers will most likely be curious of.

7.) The well-written storyline and beautifully written-related lines.
“Doctor Slump” has a murder-mystery plot, tackles mental health, and still includes a romance-comedy genre. It may seem like a lot to handle, but that writers were able to make it work. Especially Jeong Woo and Ha Neul’s relationship feels very natural.

All in all, despite having a lot of things going on, “Doctor Slump” is still able to simplify the show to make it entertaining, comforting, and never overwhelming. It’s a healing series at its core.

“Doctor Slump” is now streaming on Disney+.
