10 Korean dramas featuring “Crash Landing on You” star Hyunbin

Hyunbin has been generating a lot of buzz lately due to his role in “Crash Landing on You.” In the drama, Hyunbin portrayed Ri Jeong Hyuk, a North Korean captain who fell in love with a South Korean heiress named Yoon Seri (played by Son Ye Jin). Their relationship bloomed while he was taking care of her after she accidentally crash-landed from North Korea to South Korea.

But even before “Crash Landing on You,” Korean star Hyunbin was already a part of various hit series throughout his career as an actor. Here are all of Hyunbin’s Korean dramas you can watch, especially if you’re still not over #CLOY.

1.) SECRET GARDEN
Another hit series starring Hyunbin (as the arrogant CEO Kim Joo Won), alongside Ha Ji Won (as stunt woman Gil Ra Im), “Secret Garden” is a soul-switching Cinderella-like story from the early 2010’s.

2.) MY LOVELY SAM SOON (also known as MY NAME IS KIM SAM SOON)
27-year-old restaurant owner Hyun Jin Heon (Hyunbin) hires 30-year-old Kim Sam Soon (Kim Sun A) as his pastry chef. Although the two started off on the wrong foot, they eventually learned to resolve their differences both at work and in love.

3.) MEMORIES OF THE ALHAMBRA
Hyunbin takes on another CEO role in “Memories of Alhambra” as Yoo Jin Woo, the chief executive officer of an investment company. In the series, he is also a talented game developer. And, in hopes of testing and eventually obtaining an innovative AR game, Jin Woo flies to Alhambra, Spain to meet the genius programmer who created it. He, however, butt heads with his sister, Jung Hee Joo (played by Park Shin Hye), instead.

4.) WORLDS WITHIN
“Worlds Within” stars two top celebrities from hit Korean dramas — Hyunbin from “Crash Landing on You” and Song Hye Kyo from “Descendants of the Sun.” This 2008 series highlights the romance between two producers from different backgrounds, the lives of those who are working in the entertainment industry, and also showcases the process regarding producing films.

Their characters, Jung Ji Oh and Joo Joon Young, weren’t the only ones who fell in love with each other, as Hyunbin and Song Hye Kyo were confirmed to have been in a relationship after “Worlds Within” ended. However, the two parted ways in 2011.

5.) HYDE, JEKYLL, AND ME
Based on the Webtoon “Dr. Jekyll Is Mr. Hyde,” the live-action adaptation stars Hyunbin as the seemingly perfect third-generation chaebol Goo Seo Jin, who secretly suffers from dissociative identity disorder. His split personality, Robin, is his total opposite: Seo Jin is conceited and cynical, while Robin is kind and selfless.

6.) IRELAND
Hyunbin snagged his first Korean drama major role via the 2004 series “Ireland,” starring alongside “Romance Is a Bonus Book” actress Lee Na Young.

7.) THE SNOW QUEEN
Math genius Han Tae Woong (Hyunbin) loss his will to live after his friend and rival, Kim Jeong Kyu (Lee Sun Ho), took his own life. After learning that his win against Jeong Jyu in an international math competition might have been the reason for his close friend’s decision to commit suicide, Tae Woong becomes determined to live a life honoring Jeong Kyu. But, while doing so, everything he has started to fall apart. Until he meets Jeong Kyu’s sister, Kim Bora (Sung Yuri).  His life eventually started to change while working as the young lady’s chauffeur.

8.) BODYGUARD
This 2003 rom-com, starring Cha Seung Won and Lim Eun Kyung, was Hyunbin’s first acting project where he played the role of a stalker. And, although his outfits in his recent dramas mostly consist of suits and semi-formal clothing, in “Bodyguard” the young Hyunbin was often spotted wearing beachwear.

9.) FRIEND, OUR LEGEND
The 2009 TV series is a remake of the 2001 box-office hit titled “Friend.” He takes on the role of the young Dong Su, originally played by Jang Dong Gun in the film.

10.) NONSTOP SEASONS 4 AND 5
Hyunbin was also part of the sitcom “Nonstop,” which mostly features young and aspiring actors. He appeared in the fourth season and had a cameo role in the fifth season.
