During the press conference for “King The Land,” Im Yoona and Lee Junho shared why they decided to star in the romantic comedy series after starring in more dramatic projects—”Big Mouth” and “The Red Sleeves,” respectively.
Yoona, despite her bubbly personality, stated, “This is like a classic romcom, and I think it’s my first try to a classic romcom.” She described her last project as rather “deep and heavy,” while “King The Land” was “more cheerful, fun, and exciting.” Hence, she wanted to try a “bubbly character,” that is also loved by her fans.

Junho also agreed that his last series was “on the deep side.” “The Red Sleeve” showcased “emotional turmoil,” as it is a “heart-wrenching historical drama based on something that’s real.” Because of this, Junho wanted to try a drama that is “lighter, full of love, laughter, and smiles” just like “King The Land.” He emphasized, “I want to do something that is more fun, more easy going and heartwarming.”
LEE JUNHO AND YOONA’S ON-SCREEN CHEMISTRY
Although Yoona and Junho already had collaborations together—they debuted in SNSD and 2PM, respectively—this is the first time they starred in a drama together.
Yoona confirmed, “I think it’s the first time we are meeting in a drama and acting together.”
When asked regarding their on-screen chemistry and its importance to the drama, Yoona stated, “I think the chemistry between the male lead and the female lead in a romcom is the most important. We [with Junho] talked about the scenes, what we want to emphasize in the special scenes, and what we want to convey between the two.”
She then shared, “I think the eyes are really important when acting. Junho has a great deep voice,” and then added, “I could rely on him, and he helped me a lot,” to which Junho responded, “Thank you.”
“King The Land” is now streaming on Netflix.
