In an exclusive interview with Gia Allana, Son Ye Jin explained the relationship between Cho Won (portrayed by Ji Chang Wook) and Lady Cho: “I guess there are layers of emotions when you talk about the relationship between Lady Cho and Cho Won.”
She then said, “I guess the foundation is love.”
And added, “But you know, love is hard to describe in just a few words because there are many emotions involved with love. There could be obsession, envy, resentment, all of those emotions they are accompanied by love.”
The actress dissected their history, stating; “They used be literally friends when they are young, they were writing letters to each other, you know, really opening up to each other… So, I guess in the beginning it was the purest form of love. But, later on, it sort of evolved with time. There are different emotions attached to their relationship to their love. And I don’t think Lady Cho and Cho Won actually realized that there are so many emotions involved until they were doing this love wager which let them understand that there were so many emotions beneath the surface of love. So, yeah, I think it’s a very complicated dynamics.”
