Korean Drama Review: Netflix’s “Chicken Nugget” starring Ryu Seong Ryong, Ahn Jae Hong, and Kim Yoo Jung—A Bizarre Masterpiece

When a man’s daughter turned into a chicken nugget, he goes all out to save her.

Netflix’s new Original Series “Chicken Nugget” started off as silly and bizarre—an offbeat drama that you’d watch when you want to zone out, but it turned out to be an absolute masterpiece.

It’s funny and entertaining enough to pique your interest. Combine that with the unresolved conflict and cliffhangers, and it becomes addicting to watch each episode—just like mindlessly munching on your new favorite snack.

The heart-warming core of the series is like icing to your cake, or sauce and sesame seeds to your “Chicken Nuggets,” (pun intended).

Additionally, the experimental direction and approach of the drama pretty much worked to its favor by letting veteran actor Ryu Seong Ryong (from “Moving,” “Miracle Cell No. 7”) lead the series—everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) did a great job, but Ryu Seong Ryong took it to the next level.

All in all, the first scene from episode one simply resonates with the viewers and becomes the tone of the whole series: “It’s strange, but I can’t stop watching.”

All ten episodes are now available on Netflix.
