10 Things We Learned About Park Jinyoung During His Manila Press Conference—His Acting Career, Being Soloist, Possibility Of A Concert With GOT7

GOT7’s Park Jinyoung recently held his first solo fan concert in the Philippines at the New Frontier Theater last February 26.

Here are ten things we learned about the singer-actor during his Manila press conference:

1.) He revealed what changed since his debut in 2012. He said, “First of all, the way I speak has changed from 10 years ago. I used to talk in dialect but now I use more of the Seoul dialect. And I have grown in height, and my muscles have grown compared to the time that I was young. More than 10 years ago.”

2.) As Park Jinyoung is also an accomplished actor—starring in projects such as “Christmas Carol,” “Yumi’s Cells,” “The Devil Judge,” “He Is Psychometric,” and “Reborn Rich,” among many others—the actor talked about which of his roles he feels is the most challenging.

He stated, “Honestly speaking, I cannot just specify which role was the most challenging. Because some of them looked simple in the beginning but they became challenging as I was building the character, so I find all roles difficult. And “Witch”, the drama I am currently shooting, I am playing as character Dong-Jin. It is challenging as I have to put a lot of thought into it.”

3.) Jinyoung also talked about the advantages of pursuing a solo career. He noted that “preparation time is short,” explaing that it’s “just 40 minutes.” He expounded, “That is all (That is the only best thing). It is surely more enjoyable to be with the rest of the members but I feel lonely at times.”

4.) He really misses the members of GOT7. He revealed, “I have not been performing in concerts for the past 2 years. Well, I did perform last year (in Korea) when GOT7 released a new album, but as I performed after a long break, that memory hit me really big.”

5.) He looks up to his BH entertainment labelmate, “Mr. Sunshine” actor Lee Byung Hun. He narrated, “To be honest, juniors like us have a lot of seniors that we look up to, and we slowly have more opportunities to meet them. And every time I meet them, I feel happy and recently I’ve met Lee Byung Hun, whom I totally respect. So, I was just really delighted.”

6.) Regarding the next type of role he wants to portray, he honestly answered “To be frank, I want to play all the roles,” stating, “Because, although all characters look similar, as an actor who actually acts out the characters, they all have their own charm so I want to try all roles. Jinyoung also added, “I also want to play a character that is around my age.”

7.) He divulged on his 2023 plans. He said, “First is the Fancon in the Philippines. Then the concert in Taiwan after 2 days. For now, I would like to complete the two events successfully. Also, I want to do my best for the drama that I am shooting right now, until the end. Those are my plans.”

8.) Jinyoung wants to have a concert with GOT7 in Manila. He said, “Honestly, it has been too long since I have touch based with the fans in the Philippines and communicated with them. And as I performed in many diffeent countries recently, I was so moved by the fact that there are fans still waiting for us even after a long time of not being able to come. So, I was like “I really want to come back”. (Though I am actually here today). And I really want to show my gratitude towards the fans who are always waiting.”

And added, “I really wish to have a concert again together with my GOT7 members in the Philippines and have a fun performance,” he said.

9.) He gave a heartfelt message to his fans in the Philippines, “I want to thank Philippines Ahgase for waiting for me for such a long time although I was not able to come here for a long time. To make up for the years that we have not met, I want to communicate with the fans by always showing new aspects of me.”

10.) He plans to comeback to Manila. He promised, “Thank you always, and I will most definitely come back.”
