“Alchemy Of Souls” is one of this quarter’s buzz-worthy dramas with its solid storyline and casting. If you’re new to Korean dramas, here are some tidbits about the four rising actors in the series.
Here are the flower boys of “Alchemy Of Souls” behind their roles:
1.) Lee Jae Wook as Jang Uk
Born on May 10, 1998, Lee Jae Wook is currently 24 years old. The actor plays Jang Uk, the controversial child between powerful mage Jang Gang, his wife Do Hwa, and the former king. Born under the King’s Star, Jang Gang sealed Jang Uk’s gate of energy—making him unable to practice spells—to avoid conflict.
Although he recently just debuted back in 2018 via Hyunbin and Park Shin Hye’s drama “Memories Of Alhambra” as Marco Han, Lee Jae Wook already starred in several iconic roles.
He rose to stardom with his supporting and second lead characters in “Search: WWW”, “Extraordinary You,” and “When The Weather Is Fine.” He then took on his first leading man role in the romantic comedy “Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol” as Sunwoo Jun. However, it was “Alchemy Of Souls” that truly brought out his acting chops elevating him from his rookie actor status to one of South Korea’s rising stars.
2.) Hwang Minhyuk as Seo Yul
Seo Yul is one of the most talented mages among his peers. Portrayed by Hwang Minhyun, the 27-year-old actor is often known for “soft-spoken and stern yet still manages to be bright” type of characters just like his current role in the series.
The actor debuted as a member of the K-pop group NU’EST back in 2012. He then joined MNET’s project group in 2017 after finishing at 9th place in the reality competition series “Produce 101.” He then debuted as an actor in the Japanese film “Their Distance”, alongside his NU’EST co-members Ren and JR.
Hwang Minhyun made his TV debut as the lead actor in “Live On,” before taking on the role of Seo Yul in the drama.
3.) Yoo In Soo as Park Dang Gu
Yoo In Soo is Park Dang Gu; the summer of one of the “four seasons” with his “shining like the sun” personality. The 24-year-old actor is no rookie when it comes to acting.
He first started in Park Hyung Sik and Park Bo Young’s romcom series “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” as Kang Koo. He then appeared in several other hit series such as in “While You Were Sleeping,” “School 2017,” “Sweet Revenge,” “My ID Is Gangnam Beauty,” “Love Alarm,” and “At A Distance, Spring Is Green,” before finally getting a big break in the hit Netflix Original Series “All Of Us Are Dead.”
Yoo In Soo often plays the bully in several series. But in “Alchemy Of Souls,” he’s pretty much a sweet ball of sunshine.
4.) Shin Seung Ho as Crown Prince Go Won
Shin Seung Ho plays the Crown Prince in the series, who is expected to be another one of Mu Deok’s (Jung So Min) love interests.
The 27-year-old actor starred in “At Eighteen,” “Love Alarm,” “How To Buy A Friend,” and “D.P.” He was also the lead star in the film “Double Patty,” alongside Red Velvet’s Irene (credited as actress Bae Joo Hyun.)
Although this is his first time to portray a member of the royal family, you can tell that he’s pretty much made for the role.
Who’s your “bias” in the flower four of “Alchemy Of Souls”?
