In an online press conference for the official Giga RiVeal of “Crash Landing On You” actor Hyunbin as the newest brand ambassador of Smart Communications, the executives of the brand talked about bringing the actor to the Philippines — not once, but possibly thrice! They also unveiled their upcoming Hyunbin merchandise, talked about working with the actor, and the possibility of adding another Korean celebrity as their endorser.

PLDT-Smart First Vice President and Public Affairs Head Ramon R. Isberto answered the question regarding the actor’s possible visit to the Philippines. He said, “It’s not definite when he’s coming, because, you know, we have to still deal with this COVID situation. But, he is definitely coming. So, when exactly, we’re gonna have to work it out.” And also said, “We will certainly announce.”
Smart SVP and Head for Consumer Wireless Business Jane J. Basas also added that Hyunbin will be flying to Manila once, but he “owes” Smart Communications at least “three events.” Plus, he has a one-year contract with the brand.

During the press conference, the executives were also asked whether they plan to add another Korean celebrity endorser to their rooster. Smart President and CEO Mr. Panlilio answered — without saying yes or no — that “Captain Ri is lonely if he’s alone, right?” Giving hope that another endorser might possibly join him one day.

At the moment, Smart is also planning on launching a promo for Korean drama fans, for them to be able to consume more K-content via Smart. They will also officially release various Hyunbin merchandise by June 7. Those applying for new lines or planning to reconnect will be able to take home either of the following: a 6’1ft life-size standee, pillows, calendars, and other Hyunbin collectibles.

Working with Hyunbin for his TVC shoot, the group was able to describe him as “very nice,” “down-to-earth,” and “smart” (no pun intended) while they converse online. The actor even gave the team the jacket from his TVC shoot, signed it, and sent it to the Philippines. Additionally, he also willingly learned Tagalog so he can say “mahal ko kayo” and “Smart ako” to his fans.
